The aforementioned report has been developed thanks to the input analyzed from 17 European industrial leaders. This is a report about the path to follow when using hydrogen and fuel cells at large scale until 2050.

Decarbonization in Europe calls for the use of clean energies and hydrogen is a key factor in this process.

The electrification of economy and the large scale integration of renewable power sources demand power storage at a large scale to attain seasonal storage and an efficient transport of clean energy throughout the continent at low cost. The only technology capable of facing such a challenge and at such a scale is that of hydrogen.

The use of hydrogen will bring about not only environmental benefits but also socioeconomical ones, such as an 820B€ per year market and a reduction of a total 560Mt CO2. The report draws a roadmap based on milestones to reach by increasing the use and development of hydrogen until 2050 both in transport and in industrial and domestic uses. The report also highlights the need to coordinate the combined effort of policies, industry and investors to attain this energy change successfully.
