Ninety-three Hydrogen CEOs from Europe support Clean Hydrogen Alliance.

The European Commission and other European institutions believe hydrogen can boost the post-coronavirus economy that will also contribute to the creation of a zero-emission society. The ninety-three CEOs members of Hydrogen Europe share, not only this point of view but they are also willing to take part in the Clean Hydrogen Alliance to scale-up the production and deployment of hydrogen by 2030.

The said CEOx have sent a letter to the Executive Vice-President Timmermans, Commissioner Breton and Commissioner Simson to make clear that they support the Clean Hydrogen Alliance and their commitment to implement the climate agenda. In this letter, they confirm their readiness to invest in the use of hydrogen. The hydrogen sector is ready to contribute to reduce CO₂ emissions. The technological development already allow its use in many fields contributing thus to attain the energy and climate goals of the EU. Likewise, they are convinced about the fact that the use of clean hydrogen will enormously contribute to the European Green Deal and to making the European continent become the first neutral continent in terms of environment by 2050.

The General Secretary of Hydrogen Europe, Jorgo Chatzimarkakis said: “It’s impressive to see the commitment of so many companies of different sizes and different parts of the value chain of the hydrogen sector coming together to support this alliance. We, at Hydrogen Europe, want to help make this initiative an integral part of the European Green Deal”

Europe has to continue the process of de-carbonization and increase the use of clean energy in all the sectors. Hydrogen will be a key factor in this process. If we watch the investment and decisions taken by Governments such as the Chinese, we easily understand that the deployment of hydrogen is strategically important for Europe’s competitiveness.

The Alliance has presented a Hydrogen Investment and Support Report that offers concrete roadmap to start the recovery plan (Next Generation EU) of the European Commission that focuses on clean technology investment and value chains. The Clean Hydrogen Alliance will boost and scale-up the production and deployment of hydrogen in Europe.
